The Suzuki DF140BTL is a lightweight and powerful 140-hp four-stroke engine featuring a 2.0-liter DOHC block, EFI fuel injection, and Lean Burn control. The high 2.59:1 gear ratio delivers strong torque and good load-carrying capacity, and the maintenance-free timing chain adds to its reliability. Weighing 179 kg, the engine is an agile and high-performance option for medium-sized and larger boats.
Suzuki DF140BTL is a high-performance, lightweight 140-horsepower four-stroke outboard motor that offers the best power-to-weight ratio in its class. The engine is based on Suzuki’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder DOHC block, featuring 16 valves and phased multi-point fuel injection. In the new-generation DF140B model, the compression ratio has been increased to 10.6:1, improving acceleration, top speed, and thermal efficiency. The Lean Burn system optimizes fuel delivery based on load, making the engine fuel-efficient across the entire RPM range.
The engine’s high 2.59:1 gear ratio and two-stage reduction gear provide strong low-end torque and allow for the use of larger propellers. This improves carrying capacity and performance, especially in heavier boats and under heavy loads. The maintenance-free, oil-bathed timing chain increases reliability and reduces maintenance costs.
The DF140BTL has a compact and balanced design. The forward-mounted crankshaft improves weight distribution and reduces vibration. The engine weighs 179 kg, which is light for a four-cylinder engine in this power class. The 40 A charging capacity is more than sufficient for modern electronic equipment, and the electric trim/tilt system makes operation easier in all conditions.
The RPM range at full throttle is 5600–6200 rpm, and the engine meets global emission standards. Noise levels and resonance have been minimized through a new air intake system and resonator design. For private use, the DF140BTL comes with a 5-year warranty.
